Effects of Dietary Fiber Source and Level on Feed Intake and Reproductive Performance of Monogastric Animals

Abstract:Dietary fiber is an indispensable component in diets of monogastric animals. Appropriate level of dietary fiber can promote health care function of diets and strengthen diseases resistance of monogastric animals. High or low dietary fiber level have adverse effects on animal health because of its structural characteristics. This review summarized the physicochemical characters of dietary fiber and the effects of dietary fiber source and level on feed intake and reproductive performance of monogastric animals, to provide theoretical and technical supports for dietary fiber rational used in monogastric animals.
