Abstract:This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of Bacillus subtilis natto (BSN) on growth performance, nutrient apparent digestibility and serum biochemical indexes of sheep.Forty small-tailed Han sheep with the similar body weight were randomly assigned to 4 groups with 10 sheep in each group by a single factor completely randomized design. Sheep were fed diets with 0 (CK), 2 (A), 6 (B) and 10 g/sheep (C) BSN per day, respectively. The results showed as follows:1) compared with the CK group, the average daily gain (ADG) in groups A, B and C increased by 33.43 (P>0.05), 32.29 (P<0.05) and 57.15 g/d (P<0.01), respectively. 2) The nutrient apparent digestibility increased with the BSN supplemental level increasing (P>0.05). 3) The serum urea nitrogen content in groups A, B and C was lower than that in group CK by 0.73%, 23.44% and 30.04% (P>0.05). There was no significant effect on immune globulin (Ig) A, IgG and IgM contents in serum among groups (P>0.05). It is concluded that the BSN has a positive effect on increasing deposition of crude protein in diets of sheep, ADG increases with the increasing addition of BSN, and the effect is significant when adding 10 g/sheep BSN per day.
