Abstract:The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of different types of white distiller's grains on growth performance, nutrient apparent digestibility, serum biochemical indices and rumen fermentation parameters of dairy bulls. Single factor randomized block design was applied in this experiment. Eighteen 21-month-old Chinese Holstein dairy bulls with an average body weight of (550±43) kg were divided into three groups with six dairy bulls in each group. According to the results of rumen fermentation in vitro in the early research, the diets of three groups were supplemented with 10% different types of white distiller's grains, namely, Luzhou flavor dried distiller's grains, Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains and Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains. The period of trial was 60 d with 14 d of pretrial. The digestive experiment was carried during the 53th to 59th day of trial period. The results showed as follows:1) the average daily gain of Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains group was significantly higher than that of Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05), and its feed/gain was significantly lower than that of Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05). 2) The apparent digestibility of organic matter, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber of Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains group and Luzhou flavor dried distiller's grains group were significantly higher than those of Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05), while the apparent digestibility of crude protein of Luzhou flavor dried distiller's grains group was significantly lower than that of Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains group and Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05). 3) The contents of serum total protein, glucose and triglyceride of Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains group were significantly higher than those of Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05), and its serum urea nitrogen content was significantly lower than that of Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05). 4) The concentration of rumen fluid microbial protein of Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains group was significantly higher than that of Luzhou flavor dried distiller's grains group and Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05), while its rumen fluid ammonia nitrogen concentration was significantly lower than that of Luzhou flavor dried distiller's grains group and Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05). The concentrations of rumen fluid total volatile fatty acids and propionate of Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains group and Luzhou flavor dried distiller's grains group were significantly higher than that of Maotai flavor wet distiller's grains group (P<0.05). In conclusion, among 3 types of white distiller's grains, Maotai flavor fermented distiller's grains can promote rumen microbial fermentation of dairy bulls, improve apparent digestibility of nutrients such as crude protein, neutral and acid detergent fiber in the diet, improve feed conversion rate, and has an optimal growth promoting effect.
