Glutamine can increase the protein synthesis and antioxidant ability of enterocyte, improve the intestinal mucosal morphology, and promote the growth of digestive tract and digestive gland in fish. The effects and mechanisms of glutamine on fish growth and development of digestive system, enterocyte protein synthesis and antioxidant ability are reviewed in this article.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2011, 23(5):735 -739]
