Abstract

Apoptosis is a natural ongoing process in cells, and it plays important roles in tissue differentiation, organ development and homeostasis. Direct or indirect relationships exist between dysregulation of apoptosis and diseases. The review briefly summarized the concept of apoptosis, focused on the molecular mechanism of apoptosis generation and development and the relationship between apoptosis and intestinal function, and proposed an assumption for the study on weaning stress syndrome in early-weaning piglets.
