Abstract:Flavonoids are widely distributed in nature as plant compositions, and can be divided into several subclasses according to the different ligand groups. They have many biological activities, such as immune regulation, anti-oxidative and anti-bacterial functions, which were confirmed in human and animal models. Moreover, flavonoids can improve the intestinal mucosa morphology, regulate the intestinal microflora, and alleviate heat stress. This article reviewed the anti-oxidative and immune regulation potential of flavonoids and the underlying mechanisms, in order to provide reference for further study on the mechanism of flavonoids on animal physiological function.
