Abstract

p38 MAPK signaling pathway is an important regulatory pathway during differentiation of myoblasts. p38 MAPK protein is activated by the upstream activators, such as MAKK3 and MAKK6, and its downstream factors, such as MyoD, Myf5, myogenin, MRF4 and other muscle regulatory factors, are activated during the differentiation of myoblasts. The activation of p38 MAPK signaling pathway can further increase protein content, fiber length and cross-sectional diameter of skeletal muscle fibers, which greatly improve the skeletal muscle fiber quality without changing the fiber amount. The mechanism of p38 MAPK signaling pathway in regulating skeletal muscle growth and development is reviewed in the article.
