Abstract

Non-forage fiber sources (NFFS) main refer to by-products from the food processing industry, which are available worldwide and low-cost. NFFS are relatively high in fiber content, making them particularly suitable as feedstuffs for ruminants. The judicious use of NFFS represents an opportunity to improve the productivity and health of dairy cos while potentially controlling feed costs. This review will introduce the application and precautions of NFFS in dairy production practice, with a view to providing a basis for the promotion and application of NFFS in dairy production in China.
