Abstract

The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effects of urea containing diet added fructooligosaccharides (FOS) on nitrogen utilization and transfer of blood urea nitrogen to cecal microbial nitrogen of Dutch young rabbits. In experiment 1:selected 10 young rabbits aged about 3 months and randomly divided into 2 groups with 5 replicates per group and 1 rabbit per replicate. Rabbits in 2 group were fed basal diets supplemented with 10 g/kg urea+50 g/kg glucose (control group) and 10 g/kg urea+50 g/kg FOS (experimental group), respectively. The pre-experimental period lasted for 3 days, and the formal experimental period lasted for 5 days. In experiment 2:selected 12 young rabbits aged about 3 months and randomly divided into 2 groups with 6 replicates per group and 1 rabbit per replicate. Rabbits in 2 group rabbits were fed the same diets as experiment 1. The experimental period lasted for 9 days. At 2 h before slaughter, rabbits in 2 groups were orally given 3 mL aqueous solution of 2 g glucose or FOS mixed with 40 mg nitrogen 15 (15N)-urea, respectively. Rabbits in 2 groups were anesthetized from 08:00 to 09:00, and cut open the belly the dorsal artery extract arterial blood to be execute. The results showed as follow:1) the nitrogen deposition, nitrogen deposition based on intake and nitrogen deposition based on apparent digestion of experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The nutrient apparent digestibility and nitrogen intake, feces nitrogen and urine nitrogen were no significant differences between 2 groups (P>0.05). 2) The cecal content weight and cecal content weight/body weight of experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05), the cecal content propionic acid concentration of experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the cecal content organic acid total amount of experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). 3) The proportion of 15N excess and percentage of 15N addition amount of total nitrogen in proximal colon content of experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). 4) The content of total protein nitrogen in liver content of experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the content of total protein nitrogen in cecal content of experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). 5) The content of total microbial nitrogen in proximal colon content of experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the proportion of 15N excess and percentage of 15N addition amount of microbial nitrogen in proximal colon content of experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). 6) The proportion of 15N excess of urea nitrogen in portal blood serum of experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). In conclusion, the urea containing diet added FOS can significantly increase the body nitrogen deposition of Dutch young rabbits, but when the diet is rich in protein, the urea cannot be converted into body protein.
