The apparent digestibilities of dry matter and crude protein of different protein source diets in blue fox were detected including 6 animal protein sources (chicken powder, Peru fish meal, chicken feather powder, bone meat meal, feather meal and pork powder) and 5 plant protein sources (corn gluten meal, extrusion soybean, soybean meal, extrusion corn and corn germ meal). The differences of male and female for the same protein source diet were also compared. One hundred and ten adult male blue foxes and 110 adult female blue foxes were selected and randomly divided into 11 groups, respectively. Each group contained 10 replicates and each replicate contained 1 fox. The results showed as follows: in the 6 animal protein source diets, apparent digestibility of dry matter of feather meal diet was the highest, but there were no differences among feather meal diet, chicken powder diet and Peru fish meal (P>0.05); apparent digestibility of dry matter of bone meat meal diet and pork powder diet was significantly lower than that of feather meal diet and chicken powder diet (P<0.05). Apparent digestibility of crude protein of chicken powder diet was the highest, but there were no differences among chicken powder diet, Peru fish meal diet, and feather meal diet (P>0.05); apparent digestibility of crude protein of bone meat meal and pork powder diet was significantly lower than that of chicken powder diet (P<0.05). In the 5 plant protein source diets, apparent digestibility of dry matter of extrusion soybean diet was the lowest, but there were no differences between extrusion soybean diet and soybean meal diet (P>0.05); apparent digestibility of dry matter of extrusion corn diet was significantly lower than that of other 4 diets (P<0.05). Apparent digestibility of crude protein of soybean meal diet was the highest, but there were no differences among soybean meal diet, extrusion corn diet and corn gluten meal diet (P>0.05); apparent digestibility of crude protein of extrusion corn diet and corn germ meal diet was significantly lower than that of other 3 diets (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between male and female on apparent digestibility of dry matter and crude protein for the same diet (P>0.05). In conclusion, as finishing period blue fox diet, chicken powder was better than other animal protein ingredients, and soybean meal was better than other plant protein ingredients. There were no significant differences between male and female on apparent digestibility of dry matter and crude protein for the same diet.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2009,21(6):953-959]
