Leptin and Leptin Receptor: Regulation of Protein Metabolism in Muscle

Abstract

Recent in vivo and in vitro studies showed that the protein metabolism of skeletal muscle and muscular cells could be regulated by long-and short-term treatment of leptin, which was derived from leptin regulating the intracellular signaling pathway, such as the insulin-induced pathway and MAPK pathway. The present paper reviews the rules and mechanisms of leptin and leptin receptor regulating protein metabolism of muscle and muscular cells.
