Establishment and Application of Relational Models of Growth Performance and Dietary Nutrient Levels of Broilers

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to establish the relational models of growth performance and dietary nutrition levels by studying the effects of dietary metabolizable energy (ME) and crude protein (CP) on growth performance and slaughter indices of broilers. The optimal ME and CP levels could be obtained from the established models according to market quotation. A 3×3 (ME×CP) completely random experiment was designed to allocate 1 080 one-day-old broilers into 9 treatments with 3 replicates per treatment and 40 birds per replicate. The three dietary ME levels were 13.18、12.55、11.92 MJ/kg and the three CP levels were 21.50%、20.50%、19.50% in diets for broilers aged 1 to 21 days, respectively. Broilers aged 22 to 42 days were fed the same diets. The results showed as follows: 1) dietary ME and CP levels had significant effects on body weight (BW) and feed consumption (FC) of broilers aged 1 to 21 days (P<0.05), and it also had significant effects on BW of broilers at 42 days of age (P<0.05); 2) gizzard index of broilers at 21 and 42 days of age was decreased and percentage of abdominal fat of broilers at 42 days of age was increased with increasing dietary ME levels (P<0.05); 3) the regression relational models of growth performance and dietary ME and CP levels were established using binary curvilinear stepwise regression method. In conclusion, the illustration in practice indicates that the established models are very useful to ascertain the optimal dietary ME and CP levels.
