Abstract

Deoxynivalenol (DON) on food and feed pollution is a global problem, which not only affects the human and animal health, but also causes serious economic loss. Intestine is the first barrier between the body and intestinal pathogens or toxins. Recent studies showed that DON not only inhibited the intestinal absorption of nutrients, but also had a effect on the intestinal barrier function and cell tight junctions and altered intestinal microbial composition. The effects of DON on intestinal barrier and its mechanisms are summarized in this article.
