Abstract

Dendritic cells (DC) are the largest professional antigen presenting cells (APC) in a body, which are localized widely in gastrointestinal mucosa, and play a key role in maintaining intestinal barrier function, as well as activate intestinal immunity and regulate the balance of tolerance. In this paper, the effects of probiotics on the amount, maturation and the expression of cytokines of intestinal DCs, and related signal transduction pathways of intestinal DCs are reviewed.
