Abstract

The formation of appetite is closely related to the health of the body, and is controlled by nutritional signal, ROS and a series of hormone signals. Hypothalamus is the main central to integrate all sorts of appetite signals. The current researches indicated that lipids were detected by specialized fuel-sensing neurons. The fatty acids and their intracellular metabolites were both involved in the body’s energy homeostasis regulation, either by the non-metabolic dependent or by metabolic dependent way, thus played important roles in appetite regulation and energy homeostasis. This paper reviewed the lipid nutritional sensing and the appetite regulation mechanism in the hypothalamus.
