Abstract

Gut microbes play important roles in the nutrient metabolism, energy metabolism and immune function. Microbial adhesion, colonization, and interactions with host intestinal epithelial cells in these processes are essential, therefore in-depth understanding of crosstalk between the microbe and the host is a key to clarify how microbes involve in nutritional, metabolic and immune processes. In this paper, we reviewed several intestinal microbe interaction research models, as well as the advances and applications in these models.
