This study was conducted to evaluate the nutritional value of composite yeast for piglets, and focused on evaluate the apparent digestible energy, apparent metabolizable energy, true digestibility of crude protein, true availability of crude protein and ileal digestibility of amino acids. Nutritional ingredients of composite yeast and bioavailability of its major nutrients were determined by chemical analysis and piglet’s digestion and metabolism trials. A single factor design was used in the feeding trials. Twelve "Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire" cross breed piglets with body weight of (19.9±1.2) kg were randomly divided into 2 groups with 6 replicates in each group and 1 piglet in each replicate. The pigs in the two groups were fed N-free diet and semi-purified diet with composite yeast as the only protein source, respectively. The trial lasted for 7 days (3 days for adaptation and 4 days for sampling). The results showed that the composite yeast’s crude protein content reached up to 47.35%, lysine content was 3.43%, methionine content was 0.72%, and lysine:methionine:tryptophan:threonine=100:21:19:64, which closed to the ideal protein amino acids model in pig. The apparent digestible energy of composite yeast was 14.98 MJ/kg, and the apparent metabolizable energy was 14.05 MJ/kg; true digestibility and availability of crude protein were 89.71% and 69.53%, respectively; true ileal digestibility of other essential amino acids except threonine were higher than 80%. In conclusion, composite yeast is a high-quality protein feed, and it has high protein content, fine amino acid balance, high effective energy; and protein and amino acids in composite yeast can be better used by piglets.
