Abstract

Transient receptor potential 2 (TRPM2) can be activated by adenosine diphosphoribose and reactive oxygen species, and is a kind of protein with dual functions of both ion channel and adenosine diphosphate ribose hydrolase. With high permeability to Ca2+, the channel also acts as an endogenous redox sensor for mediating oxidative stress, and induces subsequent specific Ca2+-dependent cellular reactions, such as endothelial hyper-permeability and apoptosis. This article mainly reviewed TRPM2 feature, the mechanism of TRPM2 mediating animal oxidative stress and the regulation of nutrients on TRPM2 channel mediating animal oxidative stress.
