Abstract

γ-amino butyric acid (GABA) is a non-protein compositing natural amino acid which is widely found in mammal animals. Recent researches suggested that GABA had many physiology functions such as regulating feed intake, resisting heat-stress, sedation and so on. Currently, many researches found that GABA might play these functions through inhibiting satiety center, regulating taste and stimulating neuropeptide Y (NPY). This article reviewed the recent studies on the mechanisms of GABA in regulating feed intake and relieving heat-stress.
