Abstract

Dietary effective fiber plays some important roles in regulating degradation in ruminants, keeping stability of internal environment and health of rumen, and supporting higher productivity. However, the requirement and the recommend form of effective fiber for ruminants were not clear. In this review, we summarized the current evaluation systems for the fiber physical effectiveness, evaluation methods and recommended form of effective fiber, etc., and compared the difference of Pennsylvania screening and chewing systems, which intended to provide reliable data for the application of different systems in production.
