Abstract

Muscle development is a complicated biology process, which has remained largely unclear about its regulatory mechanism. The regulatory function in terms of epigenetic modifications on muscle development have turned into hot topic, and it was proved that DNA methylation and demethylation played a critical modulation role during myogenesis. Muscle stem cell specific-region modified by DNA methylation to regulate the myogenic process involves in affecting the key regulatory genes expression during muscle early development. This paper focused on the dynamic process of DNA methylation and demethylation during different stages of myogenesis, important methyltransferases and demethylases, effects of nutrition on muscle development by DNA methylation.
