Abstract

Selenium is one of the essential trace elements for animals, dietary selenium can effectively improve reproductive performance of sows. Studies have shown that selenium improve antioxidant capacity of sow through selenoprotein and synergy with vitamin E, and regulate reproductive performance of sow through metabolic regulation of deiodinase and pancreatic digestive enzymes. In this paper, the effects of selenium on the reproductive performance of sows and its possible mechanism were reviewed, and aimed at providing reference for related research and reasonable application of selenium in sows.
