Abstract

Tight junctions are the basic structure of intestinal barrier, which serve as the rate-limiting barrier to passive movement across intestinal epithelial cell and the maintenance of epithelial cell barriers. Lactobacillus, as the predominant bacteria in intestinal tract, can promote the expression and distribution of tight junction proteins, maintain the barrier function of epithelial cells. Besides, Lactobacillus can alleviate the injury of inflammatory cytokines induced by pathogens, improve the function of intestinal epithelial barrier and maintain the integrity of mucosa. This paper mainly reviewed the physiological and pathological regulation on tight junction and the effect of Lactobacillus, which provides a basis for further clarifying the effect of lactobacillus on intestinal epithelial tight junction.
