Abstract

Bile acids exist in many forms in the body as the principal constituent of bile. With the in-depth study of bile acids, scholars have found that bile acids are an important signal molecule in the body, which mediate bile acid receptors and exert corresponding biological effects. Enterohepatic circulation refers to the process of bile acid synthesis, secretion, excretion and reabsorption. In recent years, studies have shown that bile acids can regulate the enterohepatic circulation after binding with their receptors, thereby regulating glycolipid metabolism. In this paper, the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids and the regulation role of bile acid receptors in glycolipid metabolism were reviewed, so as to provide valuable references for the future research on the role of bile acids and its receptors in the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases.
