Abstract

Mycotoxins are secondary fungal metabolites. Its high toxicity and carcinogenicity seriously threaten animal production performance and human health, and bring huge economic losses to animal husbandry and food industry. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the toxicity mechanism of mycotoxin. Mycotoxins cause oxidative stress in animal, and then induce cytotoxicity, such as apoptosis, DNA damage and so on. This paper reviewed the absorption and metabolism of several major mycotoxins and emphasized the toxicity mediated by oxidative stress in order to have a more comprehensive understanding of the toxicity mechanism of mycotoxins, which provide theoretical basis for solving the mycotoxin problem in livestock and poultry production from the perspective of alleviating oxidative stress.
