Abstract

miRNA-33 is closely related to lipid metabolism and is the main factor involved in lipid metabolism regulation in members of microRNA (miRNAs) family. However, abnormal lipid metabolism is the culprit of cardiovascular diseases, which poses a great threat to human health. In practice, the effect of abnormal lipid metabolism on livestock and poultry has been gradually paid more attention. Studies have found that miRNA-33 affects the expression level of lipid metabolism-related proteins by regulating the transcription level of target genes, thereby affecting fatty acid synthesis, lipid accumulation, cholesterol outflow, bile acid metabolism, atherosclerosis, etc., so as to regulate the body's lipid metabolism. In this paper, the biological function of miRNA-33 and its involvement in lipid metabolism were reviewed, so as to lay a theoretical foundation for the study on the mechanism of miRNA-33 regulating lipid metabolism.
