Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the effects of dietary yeast culture (YC) on the plasma biochemical indexes and metabolomics of first-parity gilts during lactation. Sixty healthy first-parity gilts were selected and randomly divided into two groups including control group and experimental group. There are 30 repetitions per group with 1 gilt in each. The gilts of control group were fed a basal diet, and the gilts of experimental group were fed the basal diet supplemented with YC (0.5% during pregnancy and 0.8% during lactation). The experiment lasted from day 30 of gestation to day 28 of lactation. The results showed as follows:compared with the control group, YC significantly reduced the contents of glucose, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein and urea nitrogen in the plasma of first-parity gilts (P<0.05); a total of 12 significantly different metabolites were screened in the plasma of gilts by the metabolomics technology (P<0.05), which were mainly involved in the pathways of fatty acid metabolism and amino acid metabolism. In conclusion, YC takes part in the regulation of amino acid metabolism and fatty acid metabolism of first-parity gilts during lactation. L-leucine, D-proline and creatine may be important biomarkers for YC to regulate in the regulation of lactation metabolism of first-parity gilts.
