Abstract

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary different amylose/amylopectin ratios on growth performance, slaughter performance, meat quality and lipid metabolism of goslings aged from 29 to 70 days. A total of 192 healthy 29-day-old male Jiangnan white goslings with similar body weight were randomly divided into 4 groups with 6 replicates per group and 8 goslings per replicate. Goslings in 4 groups were fed experimental diets with amylose/amylopectin ratios 0.12 (group A), 0.23 (group B), 0.34 (group C) and 0.45 (group D), respectively. The experiment lasted for 41 days. The results showed as follows: 1) dietary different amylose/amylopectin ratios had no significant effects on the body weight at 70 days of age, average daily feed intake, average daily gain and feed to gain ratio of goslings (P>0.05). The abdominal fat percentage and subcutaneous fat percentage of group C and group D were significantly lower than those of group A (P<0.05). 2) The breast muscle intermuscular fat content of group C and group D was significantly lower than that of group A (P<0.05), and the contents of linoleic acid and arachidonic acid in breast muscle of group D was significantly lower than that of other groups (P<0.05). 3) The serum triglyceride content of group B, group C and group D was significantly lower than that of group A (P<0.05). The liver fatty acid synthetase (FAS) mRNA relative expression level of group C and group D was significantly lower than that of group A and group B (P<0.05), and the mRNA relative expression levels of acetyl CoA carboxylase (ACC) and stearyl CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1) in liver of group C and group D were significantly lower than those of group A (P<0.05). It is concluded dietary different amylose/amylopectin ratios have no significant effect on growth performance of goslings aged from 29 to 70 days, but it can regulate the lipid metabolism, and thus affect the slaughter performance and meat quality of goslings.
