Abstract

Mycotoxins are highly toxic secondary metabolite synthesized by fungi, it widely exists in feed and feed raw materials. Mycotoxins not only cause an economic loss on animal husbandry but threaten the health of humans by residues in livestock products. Traditional physical and chemical strategies include mycotoxins removal by adsorbent materials, irradiation or chemical reactions which are able to bind and destroy the molecular structures. However, there are some defects in these methods, such as low removal efficiency, leading to radiation pollution and the loss of nutrients in feed. Furthermore, residual chemicals may affect feed quality. For the advantages of non-polluting and efficiency, biological detoxification is increasingly regarded as an attractive method to control mycotoxin contamination. We summarize the type of mycotoxins in feed and the advances in research on biodegradation of feed mycotoxins at home and abroad in this paper. This will provide a reference for the study and practical application of biological detoxification technology.

Key words: feed; mycotoxin; biodegradation
