Abstract

Intestinal organoids, also known as "mini-gut", contain crypt-villi structures and all types of intestinal epithelial cell structures, which are derived from a single intestinal stem cell. Due to their high consistency with intestinal structure and physiological environment, intestinal organoids are a good model to replace intestinal tissue. At present, intestinal organoids have been used in the evaluation of nutrient absorption and the interaction between intestinal microbes and host in livestock and poultry. This review summarized the recent research progress of intestinal organoids and their key signaling pathways, as well as their potential application in livestock and poultry nutrition.
