Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of α-galactosidase and xylanase on growth performance and digestive performance in weaned piglets, a 3×3 cross-over design trial with two factors was conducted and 135 healthy Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire crossbred weaned piglets with average weight of (7.4±0.8) kg were randomly assigned to 9 groups (3 replicates per group and 5 piglets per replicate). Supplemental levels of α-galactosidase were 0, 0.008% and 0.012%, respectively, and supplemental levels of xylanase were 0, 0.008% and 0.012%, respectively. The experiment lasted for 28 d, including early period (1~14 d) and later period (15~28 d). The results showed as follows: 1) α-galactosidase and xylanase had significant effects on average daily gain (ADG), F/G and diarrhea rates during early period and the whole period (P<0.05), and had significant effects on ADG, average daily feed intake (ADFI) and F/G during later period (P<0.05); supplementation with 0.008% α-galactosidase and 0.008% xylanase simultaneously significantly increased ADG and ADFI and decreased F/G and diarrhea ratio (P<0.05); 2) α-galactosidase and xylanase could increase the digestibility of various nutrients, in which the digestibility of crude protein, crude fat and crude fiber had significant effects (P<0.05). In conclusion, α-galactosidase and xylanaseon could improve the growth performance and digestive performance of weaned piglets to some degree, and supplementation with 0.008% α-galactosidase and 0.008% xylanase simultaneously was the best, and their interaction on growth performance and digestibility performance was found.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2010,22(2):437-443]
