Abstract

This experiment was conducted to compare the feeding value of raw and extruded wheat in grass carp. One hundred and eighty grass carp with average body weight of 27.8 g were randomly divided into four groups with three replicates and fifteen grass carp in each replicate. The four experimental groups were fed with experimental diets which contained 16% raw wheat, 16% extruded wheat, 32% raw wheat and 32% extruded wheat, respectively. The experiment lasted for 61 days. The results showed as follows: under the supplemental levels of 16% and 32%, the specific growth rate of extruded wheat group was deceased by 5.96% and 3.42%, and the survival rate was deceased by 2.32% and 6.97%, respectively, compared with the raw wheat group (P>0.05). Under the same supplemental level, compared with the raw wheat group, protein deposit rate and crude protein content of whole fish and muscle in the extruded wheat group were all decreased (P>0.05); lipid deposit rate, celiac fat index, serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol content and crude lipid content of whole fish, muscle and hepatopancreas in the extruded wheat group were all increased (P>0.05). In conclusion, the application effects of raw wheat are better than those of extruded wheat in grass carp.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2010,22(6):1607-1613]
